Ashley & Shaun’s cozy winter wedding at Cidery 51 was the perfect reminder of why November weddings hold such a special kind of magic. Their day was wrapped in crisp winter air, clear skies and golden winter sunshine – the kind of weather I quietly hope for when shooting late fall weddings.
From the moment I arrived at Cidery 51, the atmosphere felt warm and intentional. The venue itself is stunning year-round, but in winter it truly shines. Exposed wood, soft natural light and an amazing view created a gorgeous backdrop for their cozy winter wedding.
Ashley & Shaun chose a pastel colour palette which was a beautiful and unexpected choice for a winter wedding. Blush pinks, soft blues and creamy neutrals were woven throughout the florals, attire and decor. Against the winter backdrop outside the large windows, these tones felt airy and romantic rather than seasonal.
Ashley & Shaun spent the morning getting ready surrounded by their closest people, laughter filling the rooms with joy and excitement. There was an ease to the morning- no rushing, no stress just anticipation and quiet joy. Shaun was a bit nervous as he waited for things to start but the moment he saw Ashley he was calm.
The couple had their first look in their ceremony space. After their initial reactions, they said private personal vows to one another. Their vows spoke of their love and devotion to one another and of all the dreams they have for their futures.
The ceremony at Cidery 51 was heartfelt and intimate. Guests were seated close, dressed in their winter finest. As Ashley walked down the aisle, sunlight poured in, illuminating her and setting the tone for an emotional ceremony filled with quiet smiles and happy tears.
From my perspective, moments like these are everything – natural light, genuine emotion and a couple completely present with each other.
As daylight faded early, the reception took on a warm candlelit glow. Guests gathered with special themed drinks in hand, sharing stories and celebrating in a way that felt relaxed and heartfelt.
Ashley and Shaun’s first dance, surrounded by friends and family, felt less like a performance and more like and extension of their day – authentic, joyful and full of connection.
Ashley and Shaun’s wedding was a perfect example of why a cozy winter wedding can be so magical. There’s an intimacy to winter celebrations that’s hard to replicate in any other season. People linger a little longer, hold each other a little closer, and appreciate the warmth – both literal and emotional- that much more.
Photographing their day at Cidery 51 was an absolute joy. From the pastel details to the crisp winter air and golden sunlight, every element came together effortlessly. Ashley and Shaun created a wedding day that was not only beautiful, but deeply meaningful, and one I won’t forget anytime soon.
To many years of happiness!
xoxo Nicole
